Installation of SR MOTORSPORTS' Aluminum Radiator

Page 4

The following is some information about how I installed my new SR MOTORSPORTS' aluminum Radiator in my 1993 FD3 RX7. SR MOTORSPORTS and I are not liable for any misinformation on this page and will not be held responsible for any damages to your car. This page is strickly for informational purposes. Every car my very in modifications and Configuration. What I have listed below is a step by step instructional of how I installed my new radiator! Please feel free to use the information in any way you please.

Radiator Bushing

Step 14:

I bought new bushing to go on my new SRM Radiator. One goes on the left side and one goes on the right side.

Radiator Mount

    Step 15:

The mounting brackets on the stock radiator needs to be taken off the old radiator and bolted on the new SRM Radiator. There is one 10mm bolt for each mounting bracket.

Mount

    Step 16:

Here is the mount bolted onto the SRM Radiator. One goes on each side.

Fans on new Radiator

Step 17:

Now you can drop the SRM Radiator in with the fans on and bolt in the mounting bolts and put everything back in reverse order. This may look like a familar picture, but it should because of its stock replacement. Everything fit perfectly and it looks simular to the stock radiator except it is 100% thicker. It actually looks really mean if you look in the mouth of the car.

All together

Step 18:

Put the Intake, MSD's, Intercooler duct w/ condenser, Battery, Battery Tray, Battery Hold Down, Intercooler, AST and Intercooler pipes back in and you are almost done.

    Step 19:

Make sure everything is tight and you are ready to fill the radiator and engine with Coolant.

    Step 20:

After filling the radiator and motor up with coolant, Start the car and make sure you seal the secondary radiator cap and leave the AST cap off for now. View the AST and see if there are any bubble and check for leaks. You may need to fill with more coolant as the motor warms up. As soon as the motor is warm and you no longer need to fill the AST with coolant. Close the AST with the Radiator cap and again check for leaks.

Step 21:

If there are no leaks take the car around the block and again see if there are any leaks. If all is well and there are no leaks take the car for a cruise. I have a external tempature guage where I can see if the car is over heating or not. View the gauge to see if the car over heats or if the car is running cooler? (note: the temperture guage is almost good for nothing, by the time it tells you that you are overheating, it is too late.)

Hope this has been informative to you. Please email me any other how to's for the FD3 RX7's and I will post it up for you.
